The Cincinnati Zoo shot and killed one of its gorillas, named Harambe, in order to rescue a young boy who had snuck into his enclosure on Saturday. The event has become a hot-button point of discussion for many, including actress and vocal animal rights activist Kaley Cuoco.

“Another senseless horrendous animal being killed over people not using their brains,” Cuoco wrote in an Instagram post Tuesday. “If you watch the footage, you see this gorgeous animal holding that child’s hand. Do with that what you will.”

The Big Bang Theory star has been active in speaking about animal rights for years now, including doing commercials for the Humane Society and rescuing animals of her own.

“As sad as this makes me, a part of me is happy that amazing creature doesn’t have to live in captivity another day,” Cuoco continued.
