Break out those mini muffins, because we finally have the answer to an age-old Friends mystery.

Ugly Naked Guy, the perpetually nude neighbor across the street from the Friends gang, only made two onscreen appearances on the long-running sitcom — season 3’s “The One With The Giant Poking Device” and season 5’s “The One Where Everybody Finds Out.” Neither revealed his face. In each case, IMDb credits the role to Michael Hagerty, who also played superintendent Mr. Treeger, but Hagerty told The Huffington Post that he never assumed the Ugly Naked mantle.

That role actually went to a man by the name of Jon Haugen. In a “year-long quest” to find the actor, a Huffington Post writer reached out to casting directors and producers, attempted to commission a police sketch of the actor, considered that Ugly Naked Guy might have been a ghost all along, and eventually circled back to a casting agent, who put him in touch with the man himself.

“There’s only one Ugly Naked Guy, man, and that was me,” Haugen said.

And you can call this “The One Where Two Mysteries Get Solved at Once,” because Haugen, who described his experience on the Friends set as “the best time in my life,” also came clean about his naked scene with Schwimmer. He told The Huffington Post, “I was in boxer shorts.”
