Rapper Troy Ave was arrested Thursday for the incident, which left one person dead

Rapper T.I. has addressed the deadly shooting at New York’s Irving Plaza on Wednesday night where he was to perform later that night.

“My heart is heavy today. Our music is intended to save lives, like it has mine and many others,” the rapper wrote on Instagram. “My heartfelt condolences to the family that suffered the loss & my prayers are with all those injured. Respectfully, Tip.”

He additionally commented, “Rest in Peace Bro. God bless.”

The response comes after the shooting, which left one person dead. On Thursday, police arrested Troy Ave for the shooting after video emerged of the rapper firing a gun inside the venue. Troy Ave, whose real name is Roland Collins, shot himself in the leg during the incident and was one of the four people wounded in the shooting. As PEOPLE noted, Collins was charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
