American Psycho, the new musical based on the bloodily beloved novel by Bret Easton Ellis, has announced its final performance on Broadway. The show will end its American premiere run on June 5, having played a total of 81 performances at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. It opened officially on April 21.
American Psycho stars Benjamin Walker as psychotic Wall Street banker Patrick Bateman, leading a cast that includes Heléne Yorke, Alice Ripley, Jennifer Damiano, Drew Moerlein, Krystina Alabado, Dave Thomas Brown, Jordan Dean, Anna Eilinsfeld, Jason Hite, Ericka Hunter, Holly James, Keith Randolph Smith, Theo Stockman, Alex Michael Stoll, and Morgan Weed.
The show features music, lyrics, and orchestrations by Duncan Sheik, a book by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, direction by Rupert Goold, and choreography by Lynne Page.
American Psycho is nominated for two Tony Awards — scenic design and lighting design — at this year’s ceremony. The musical made its world premiere at London’s Almeida Theatre in December 2013. The cast recording is available through Concord Records.
