Hamilton may be the musical that’s getting the most pop culture buzz, but one of the most talked about performances on Broadway got a huge platform Monday night as Cynthia Erivo performed her solo “I’m Here,” from The Color Purple on The Late Show.

Erivo has won rave reviews and a Tony nomination for her role in the revival of the musical that first debuted on Broadway in 2005 and is based on Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize winning novel. She stars as Celie, a poor African American woman living in the South during the early 20th century.

The current iteration, which is up for Best Revival of a Musical at next month’s Tony Awards, also features Danielle Brooks and Heather Headley, who recently replaced Jennifer Hudson.
