Chewbacca Mask Lady: Star Wars video hits 114 million views
Kohl's surprises the Texas mother with gifts, thanks her for sharing her 'simple joy'
Texas mother of two Candace Payne is quickly experiencing the power of social media. Since posting a video of herself wearing a “talking” Chewbacca mask, the clip has been seen 112 million times and counting — easily becoming the most-watched Facebook Live video of all time. And it’s not hard to see why.
Trending as #chewbaccamasklady, Payne, elated by the Star Wars merchandise purchase she made at her local Kohl’s, laughs hysterically throughout the four-minute video. Her giggles — and joy — at using the toy has quickly gained the woman a growing fanbase. And she took to Facebook to thank everyone.
“Today has been a whirlwind. I’m grateful for every kind word and comment even if I haven’t replied. Y’all. OVERWHELMED with gratitude. Let’s keep belly laughing again and again,” she told her Facebook followers, old and new, on Friday. “Never imagined finding my ‘simple joy’ would land me more VIEWS on a little FB video than Mark Zuckerberg has followers. INSANE. Find your ‘simple joy’! Good Day. Now Good Night. It’s all love.”
Kohl’s is getting in on the love, too, surprising Payne at her home with more Star Wars merchandise — even some Spider-Man, Captain America, and Incredible Hulk goodies — as well as 10,000 Kohl’s reward points as thanks for shopping at the department store.
