'Drive' parody trailer recasts Ryan Gosling as an Uber driver
- Movie
Nicolas Winding Refn’s 2011 crime drama Drive never got a sequel, but if it did, it might look a little like comedian (and Ryan Gosling doppelgänger) Joey Thompson’s new parody trailer.
Thompson stars as Gosling’s unnamed character, who, in 2016, has given up on getaway driving and work as a Hollywood stuntman to become an Uber driver. Drive 2: The Uber Years follows him as he works for less than minimum wage and has to deal with constantly vomiting passengers — all while still wearing that scorpion jacket and carrying that toothpick.
“This kid is the best driver in all of L.A.,” the voiceover explains. “You set a pickup location, he’ll find you. Once he arrives, you have a five-minute window. He doesn’t carry a gun. He just drives… If I could give him more than five stars, I would.”
