Earlier this month Chris Carrabba told EW that he was “actively writing and recording new songs for Dashboard Confessional,” and now the group’s first new song has arrived. Called “May,” the acoustic tune debuted via Tunespeak with little fanfare.

Featuring lyrics like “You’re a dream and I’m a dreamer/ I’ve got a ring that’s fit for your finger,” “May” is a throwback to early Dashboard Confessional songs that hinge on romance, repetition, racing choruses, and Carrabba’s rough, reaching vocals.

Reps for the band wouldn’t confirm if the track will appear on Dashboard Confessional’s next album, of which Carrabba told EW, “I don’t have any idea of a release date or a worry about one for that matter. But I’m really excited to be doing it because I don’t think it’s ever felt this much like the beginning again.”

Dashboard Confessional will head out on the Taste of Chaos tour this summer. See all dates via their website.
