Hamilton’s ongoing Ham4Ham lottery — where participants can enter for a chance to win $10 tickets to the Tony-nominated show — has attracted some of the biggest names on Broadway, from Lea Salonga and Audra McDonald to Adam Pascal and Kelli O’Hara. But Wednesday’s performance outside the Richard Rodgers Theatre included a visit from one of Broadway’s starriest divas of all time: Patti LuPone.
Before introducing the Gypsy star, Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda encouraged the audience to take out their cell phones and start recording. (LuPone has famously decried the use of cell phones in theaters, even grabbing an audience member’s phone during a performance.) LuPone then launched into a rendition of “Give My Regards To Broadway,” leaving Miranda visibly starstruck.
