Ellen Page joins The Third Wave, about cured zombies
The entertainment world is brimming with zombie-centric adaptations and spin-offs, and now Ellen Page is throwing her hat into the undead ring with the indie film The Third Wave.
The story follows the events of a virus outbreak that turned many citizens into what can only be categorized as zombies. An antivirus has cured a majority of the infected, giving them a new chance at life, but not without the stigma of their previous illness. Society now sees the cured as monsters-turned-human and will not accept them back with open arms.
Director David Freyne will make his feature debut with the film, which is based off of his 2014 short The First Wave. Joining Page in the cast is Sam Keeley, star of 2015’s In the Heart of the Sea and Burnt.
Filming will begin in late 2016 in Ireland.
The casting was first posted by The Hollywood Reporter.
