'Sherlock': Toby Jones cast as season 4 villain
Step aside Moriarty — there’s a new bad guy coming to Sherlock.
Toby Jones has been cast in the upcoming fourth season of the detective drama as a series villain, PBS’ Masterpiece announced Monday.
Jones will star in the second of Sherlock‘s three-part season, which began filming on Monday. Last month, co-creator Mark Gatiss confirmed that filming had begun on the new season following a long hiatus.
There’s no word on what character Jones will play, but co-creator Steven Moffat teased that he will be a famous Arthur Conan Doyle villain. “Delighted to have Toby Jones on board, bringing to life one of Doyle’s finest villains,” he said in a statement.
Jones has starred in several blockbuster movie franchises — including The Hunger Games, Captain America, and the Harry Potter series, for which he voiced Dobby.
