Chris Hardwick to host Preacher after show on AMC
AMC has announced that the cast and behind-the-scenes principals of its new series Preacher will have the opportunity to testify about the comic book adaptation in a Chris Hardwick-hosted after show called Talking Preacher.
The first hour-long episode will be broadcast at 10:30 p.m. ET on May 29 following an encore airing of the Preacher pilot. Actor Dominic Cooper and series executive producers Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Sam Catlin all set to appear as Hardwick’s first guests. The second Talking Preacher will air after the Preacher finale on July 31.
Preacher is based on the much-beloved comic by writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon. The show stars Cooper as Jesse Custer, a small-town Texas man of the cloth who is possessed by a supernatural being and acquires the ability to make people do whatever he commands. Preacher costars Ruth Negga as Custer’s criminally-minded ex-girlfriend Tulip O’Hare and Joseph Gilgun as an alcoholic vampire, Cassidy.
Hardwick already hosts after shows for AMC’s The Walking Dead and Better Call Saul. “It’s very clear that Chris Hardwick knows how to lead and navigate a conversation about hordes of zombies on Talking Dead and shifty lawyers on Talking Saul, so we can’t wait to see how he’ll handle this new batch of insanely, out-of-this-world characters from Preacher,” said Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV, in a statement. “It’s amazing to see Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s comic creation come to life and I know that Chris and our special guests on Talking Preacher will have a great time engaging fans in a lively discussion around this twisted and unpredictable new series.”
Preacher premieres on AMC on May 22 at 10 p.m. ET. You can see a trailer for the show below.
