Looks like Shia LaBeouf has an ace up his acting sleeve.

The Transformers and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull star will portray tennis legend John McEnroe in an upcoming biopic, Borg/McEnroe. The movie will chronicle the intense rivalry between the American athlete and his Swedish opponent, Bjorn Borg, who faced off 14 times in the 1970s and ’80s, splitting the wins with 7 each.

The deal was announced at the Cannes Film Festival, where LaBeouf is supporting his American Honey, directed by Oscar winner Andrea Arnold (2005 Best Short Film, Wasp). In Borg/McEnroe, Stellan Skarsgard will play the coach to Sverrir Gudnason’s (A Serious Game) Borg. Danish director Janus Metz will direct from a script by Ronnie Sandahl (Underdog).

Shooting on the movie, co-produced by Sweden’s SF Studios and Film Vast with Swedish Television and Yellow Film & TV, is expected to begin this fall in Sweden, New York, London, and Monaco for a 2017 release. ST Studios is working international sales for the film out of Cannes.

The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news.
