Kit Harington says he used Jon Snow's fate to avoid speeding ticket
Kit Harington kept the fate of Jon Snow a secret from everyone but his family and girlfriend… and a police officer who pulled him over for speeding?
That’s what Harington said on Friday’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, telling host Jimmy Fallon about the time he was stopped by a cop because he was “being a bit naughty and going over the speed limit.”
As Harington told Fallon, the police officer gave the Game of Thrones star a choice: “You can either follow me back to the police station now where I’ll book you in, or you can tell me whether you live in the next [season] of Game of Thrones.”
Harington said he laughed at the request, but the officer wasn’t joking. “I have to tell you, whether I take you into the police station depends on what your answer is,” Harington recalled the cop telling him. So, he answered: “I looked at him, and went, ‘I’m alive next season.'”
“He goes, ‘On your way Lord Commander. Keep the speed down this far south of the Wall.”
As the 29-year-old told EW in our exclusive cover story on the resurrection of Jon Snow, he kept the twist secret for nearly two years — only telling his mother, father, brother, and girlfriend (Rose Leslie, who also costars on Thrones). Even Harington’s cast mates weren’t aware of his eventual return. “Sophie Turner, bless her, wrote me a really long letter about how much she loved working with me — and I still got it. That made me chuckle,” Harington told EW.
