Fox’s struggling supernatural series will live to see another season.
The network has ordered a fourth year of Sleepy Hollow, the Tom Mison (Ichabod Crane) starrer that’s loosely based on the old short story of the same name that takes place in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y. It also features Lyndie Greenwood as Jenny Mills, Lance Gross as Daniel Reynolds, and Jessica Camacho as Sophie Foster.
The drama, which averaged a 1.4 rating in adults 18-49 and 4.8 million viewers this season, recently garnered attention by killing off Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie). Fox released a statement, which said in part, “The finale featuring the tragic death of Abbie Mills was a very dramatic ending and a bold move for the show, but Sleepy Hollow has always been known for its shocking finales.”
Fox has yet to announce how many episodes it will order for its 2016-17 return.
Other than Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life, Sleepy Hollow was Fox’s only bubble show going into upfronts next week in New York City. Fox has already renewed most of its shows, including Empire, Gotham, Bones, and Rosewood.
Fox will present its fall 2016 lineup to advertisers Monday.
