Talking about the secretive Blade Runner 2 puts Ryan Gosling on edge. So much that when EW senior writer Clark Collis brought up the sequel to director Ridley Scott’s movie during a recent interview, Gosling scanned the room for adversaries.

“I’m looking around as you say that, because I think there’s a sniper up there in the corner if I say too much,” Gosling joked during a special Town Hall on SiriusXM Entertainment Weekly Radio (ch. 105) centered on his new movie with Russell Crowe, The Nice Guys.

Filming for director Denis Villeneuve project begins this summer. Harrison Ford returns as Rick Deckard, while Scott will executive produce. Their respective involvement is part of what allured Gosling to join the sequel.

“I’m a huge fan of the original and thought — just as a fan of it — that Ridley and Harrison wanted to extend that story was exciting,” he said. “Then to be asked to be a part of that and help tell that story in some way felt like such a great opportunity.”
