Roald Dahl classics get brand new covers for 100th birthday celebration
EW has the exclusive first look at the beautiful covers
In honor of the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl’s birth, Puffin will be publishing a set of Dahl’s classic children’s books with new collectible covers.
These collectible reissues will include five of Dahl’s best known titles: Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, James and the Giant Peach, and Fantastic Mr. Fox. All of the new covers have been illustrated by Dahl’s frequent collaborator, cartoonist Quentin Blake, and they feature iconic scenes or characters from the books in front of a bright, lively background color.
The new book covers are a part of a year-long celebration of Dahl by Penguin Young Readers and the Roald Dahl Literary Estate called “Roald Dahl 100.” Other events coming up include Steven Spielberg’s release of the big-screen adaptation of The BFG on July 1, the release of a Roald Dahl dictionary in September, and a nationwide celebration in libraries and bookstores for Dahl’s birthday on September 16.
The newly designed hardcovers won’t be available for purchase until September 6, but EW has your exclusive first look at them below.
