Steven Spielber’s knowledge of his past films is a little hit or miss.

The longtime director sat down with Ruby Barnhill, the young actress who plays Sophie in Spielberg’s new film The BFG, to play “The BFG — The Big Fact Game” at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. During the game, Barnhill quizzed Spielberg on trivia from classic movies he helmed, like E.T the Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park, and Jaws, managing to throw off the director from the get-go.

For her first question, Barnhill asked, “How old is E.T?”

“You stumped me already,” Spielberg answered. “I can’t believe you stumped me — the first question.”

He then guessed that E.T. is 338 years old. According to Barnhill, however, the alien from the 1982 movie is actually 10 million years old.

Later, Barnhill quizzed Spielberg about The BFG, a film about a Big Friendly Giant based on Roald Dahl’s classic children’s book. Spielberg proved to be very knowledgable about The BFG, sharing that the giant is 25 feet tall and likes to eat “snozzcumbers.”

The BFG will release July 1. Check out the exchange between Barnhill and Spielberg below.
