The critics like it, so ABC does too: The network just picked up a third season of the limited series American Crime.

The franchise that’s been nominated for 10 Emmy Awards — including a win for supporting actress Regina King — will feature a new crime in a different setting and told through the eyes of those affected. In its second season, it averaged just over 6 million viewers and a 1.6 rating among adults 18–49.

The series was created and executive produced by John Ridley, who won an Oscar for penning 12 Years a Slave.

ABC will announce its fall schedule to advertisers Tuesday in New York City.
