It’s taken three films, but James McAvoy is getting himself out of a hairy situation when it comes to his X-Men character.

In the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, the actor, who plays Charles Xavier, finally goes bald, and he and director Bryan Singer captured the big haircut on video.

“It’s something I’m excited about,” McAvoy says in the video. “We still have to honor the iconic nature of Professor X. I’m glad to be finally arriving at that destination — with my head.”

McAvoy and director Bryan Singer also had a special guest witnessing it: Patrick Stewart, a.k.a. the original Professor X, who appeared via video chat to see the hair come off.

“Why don’t you save locks of it and send it to me? I could make some use of it,” Stewart joked.
