Drew Barrymore talks divorce on Chelsea Handler's Netflix premiere
The actress says she felt like 'the biggest failure'
Chelsea Handler returned to living rooms Wednesday, launching the first-ever streaming talk show on Netflix. To kick off her highly-anticipated chat fest, aptly titled Chelsea, the comedian sat down with Drew Barrymore for a heart-to-heart.
“You’re somebody that everybody’s always rooting for, and I don’t know if you know that or feel that — because there are people that not everybody’s rooting for,” explained Chelsea, alluding to Barrymore’s divorce from Will Kopelman, which the actress announced in April.
Added Handler: “But you are somebody who everybody goes, ‘Oh, no. No.’ You want good things to happen to you. So do you feel that?”
“Thank you,” Barrymore replied as the audience applauded her. “This latest episode, chapter in my life was…”
The actress briefly paused, seemingly feeling a range of emotions before opening up about the personal topic. “I can’t tell you how incredible it was to feel because I put in my statement about divorce the word ‘failure,’ because it’s so honest,” she said. “You break up with somebody, and you’re just like, ‘Yeah, that didn’t work.’ And you get divorced and you’re like, ‘I’m the biggest failure. This is the biggest failure.'”
