Michelle Fairley has joined the cast of The White Princess, a sequel to the 2013 miniseries The White Queen, Starz announced Tuesday. Both projects are based on Philippa Gregory’s historical novels.

Fairley — known for portraying Catelyn Stark on Game of Thrones — will play the role of Margaret Beaufort, Henry Tudor’s mother and a key player in his fight for the throne of England. Jodie Comer, who played Chloe Gemell in My Mad Fat Diary, will also join the cast of the forthcoming miniseries to play Princess Elizabeth of York, Henry Tudor’s new wife.

The eight-episode follow-up will pick up at the end of England’s War of the Roses and capture the story of the House of Tudor through the eyes of the key female characters, showing Princess Elizabeth come up against Margaret Beaufort in familial and royal conflict, Starz said.

The limited series will air on Starz in 2017. Emma Frost has returned to serve as showrunner and will executive produce with Gregory, Colin Callender, Michele Buck, and Scott Huff.
