Fresh from literally stomping all over Justin Bieber’s feet at a recent New York City performance, rapper Desiigner has released the long-awaited music video for his hit single “Panda.”
Following in the footsteps of Beyoncé and Rihanna, who’ve supported Tidal with exclusive content in the past, Desiigner premiered the “Panda” music video solely to Jay Z’s streaming platform, though non-subscribers can watch the video on the service’s website as well.
The “Panda” music video sees the Kanye West protégé often from a point-of-view that puts the viewer right in the young rapper’s face, at times while he dabs in the street. Early in the video he steals a car at gunpoint, and later we see the police brutally respond. West makes a cameo driving a luxury SUV with Desiigner riding shotgun, the two cruising through the city and doing donuts.
The 19-year-old’s debut single on a major record label recently peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, later certified Platinum without an accompanying music video. Desiigner also appears on “Freestyle 4” and “Pt. 2” (which samples “Panda”) from West’s latest studio album, The Life of Pablo.
In addition to the Biebs incident, Desiigner’s other live sets are quickly gaining notoriety for their spontaneous nature, as the Brooklyn native recently threw up in the middle of performing “Panda” in April, but powered through the rest of his set as if nothing had happened.
While there’s currently no confirmed release date, Desiigner’s upcoming mixtape, Trap History Month, is due for release sometime this year. Watch the video for “Panda” below.
