Get ready to head into the Inferno. Ahead of the trailer debut for the Ron Howard film starring Tom Hanks and Felicity Jones, Sony Pictures revealed the first footage in the form of a brief 31-second teaser.
“There’s a switch,” says Ben Foster, who plays the film’s villain Bertrand Zobrist. “If you throw it, half the people on Earth with die. But if you don’t, in 100 years the human race will be extinct.”
Based on the Dan Brown novel, Inferno sees Hanks return as symbologist Robert Langdon as he’s now on the trail of a mystery with ties to famed Italian poet Dante Alighieri. He teams with Dr. Sienna Brooks (Jones) while suffering from amnesia and fighting a bioterrorist plot.

“Langdon is thrust into this crisis without knowing why or how he got there or what his role is,” Howard told EW. “It gave Tom a lot to play with. And it allowed me to stage this as a modern psychological thriller.”
Inferno also features Irrfan Khan (Jurassic World), Omar Sy (X-Men: Days of Future Past), and Sidse Babett Knudsen (Borgen). The first trailer will drop Monday, while the film will hit theaters on Oct. 28.
