The band also released 'Daydreaming' and its video, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson
After releasing a new single and music video earlier this week, Radiohead shared a second song and corresponding video Friday — and announced that they’ll release their long-awaited ninth studio album Sunday, May 8.
The clip for the new song, “Daydreaming,” was helmed by acclaimed director Paul Thomas Anderson. Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood has worked extensively with Anderson, composing soundtracks for the director’s recent films There Will Be Blood, The Master, and Inherent Vice. Where the band’s video for “Burn the Witch” released Tuesday was a surreal, stop-motion clip, this one features frontman Thom Yorke.
The band did not immediately provide a title for the album, although a press release confirmed it’ll see a digital release at 2 p.m. ET Sunday with a physical release to follow on June 17.
Speculation about Radiohead’s first album since 2011’s The King of Limbs ramped up in March when the band announced their first U.S. tour since 2012, and increased when they deleted posts from their Facebook and Twitter accounts last weekend.
