A new Morgan Freeman-centric clip also debuted ahead of the film's June 10 release
What happens when you put a slighted Morgan Freeman in a jail cell? He still finds a way to mess with you… sort of.
In the latest trailer for Now You See Me 2, Freeman’s Thaddeus Bradley — whom we last saw in the clink after he attempted to expose the secrets of magic collective The Four Horsemen — entangles himself in yet another magic-fueled plot involving a tech prodigy (Daniel Radcliffe) who threatens the Horsemen into performing an insurmountable heist.
Freeman seemingly offers perspective to his former rivals in the illusionist group, which is led by Danny Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg) and Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo). “Yes, you were lured into a trap,” the imprisoned Freeman says ominously. “The only way out is through.”
As evidenced by the trailer, the sequel to the 2013 caper film Now You See Me will feature Eisenberg halting falling rain with his bare hands, lots of fireworks (both figuratively and literally), daring underwater escapes, and a well-dressed, quizzical Michael Caine speaking softly to Freeman in the back seat of a dimly lit car.
Now You See Me 2 also stars returning cast members Woody Harrelson and Dave Franco, along with new faces like Radcliffe, Sanaa Lathan, and Lizzy Caplan. Jon M. Chu (Jem and the Holograms) is stepping in as director for Louis Leterrier, who helmed the first film.
Now You See Me 2 hits theaters June 10. Watch the full trailer in the video above and see a new clip from the film below.
