'Today' anchor Natalie Morales moving west for expanded role
In another morning show shakeup, Today‘s Natalie Morales is moving west this summer for an expanded role on NBC.
Although Morales will still be a part of Today, her move to L.A. will bring new duties: She will now serve as the show’s West Coast anchor, as well as become the new host of Access Hollywood and Access Hollywood Live. Plus, she will continue contributing to Dateline.
Anchor Matt Lauer shared the news on Thursday’s episode of Today, after which Morales said the move was something she and her family had discussed for awhile. “We have long talked about perhaps moving to the West Coast, where the sun is always shining,” Morales explained. “It’s going to be a good change of pace, a good lifestyle.”
Lauer teased that with all her new duties, she’ll barely be able to enjoy her newfound nice weather. Meanwhile, Carson Daly, who already bounces back and forth thanks to his duties on The Voice, wanted to make sure Morales was fully prepared for the West Coast lifestyle.
“Do you like kale?” Daly asked asked. “I love kale,” Morales replied. “Oh, you’re going to love the West Coast,” Daly told her.
The news comes over a week after Billy Bush announced he’s leaving Access Hollywood to join Today.
