He’s played President Lyndon B. Johnson, a sitcom dad on Malcom in the Middle, blacklisted Hollywood writer Dalton Trumbo — and, most famously, teacher-turned-cancer patient-turned-meth overlord, Breaking Bad’s Walter White.

In his new memoir, A Life in Parts, Bryan Cranston discusses these film, TV, and stage roles that have shaped him — as well as the roles he’s played in his real life, from paperboy to husband to murder suspect. A Life in Parts doesn’t hit shelves until October 18, but EW is thrilled to reveal the front and back covers of the book, which illustrate Cranston’s uncanny ability go to from friendly… to totally ominous.
