X-Men: Apocalypse serves up playable Atari-style video games
Complete with cover art, of course
X-Men: Apocalypse may herald an extinction-level event for humans and mutants alike, but at least we’re getting some retro fun in first.
With a few weeks to go before the release of Bryan Singer’s 1980s-set superhero sequel, Fox has unveiled a trio of playable X-Men-themed video games with period-appropriate graphics, gameplay, and even mock covers.
Located at SpacePortArcade.com, named for an actual ’80s chain depicted in the movie, the three games are Mutant All-Stars Track & Field (which appears to be modeled on the vintage game Track & Field), Revenge of Hero X (a dead ringer for Robotron: 2084), and Mutant Conquest (which should be familiar to anyone who’s played Pac-Man).
X-Men: Apocalypse opens May 27.
