The trailer for this summer’s Ghostbusters reboot is the most disliked movie trailer in YouTube history. Most of those might just be fans of the originals upset at the very idea of the reboot, but the trailer is confusing for other reasons as well. Johnjay and Rich of iHeart Radio, for instance, wanted to know if the new film takes place in the same universe as the original films, what with the “30 years ago” opening and all. They asked Melissa McCarthy about it, and it turns out the movie’s star had the same question.

“It’s a reboot. I know, it’s weird that they said the ’30 years ago’ because in this movie, the first one didn’t happen,” McCarthy said during a recent interview. “It’s that great story, but told totally differently.”

The radio hosts pointed out that the “30 years ago” exposition might lead viewers to believe that this team of Ghostbusters were a continuation or franchise expansion of the first one, but in fact it’s an all-new start. McCarthy said she’s well-aware of the confusion and had raised that point herself.

“Believe me, the question was asked. I was like, ‘I think that’s very confusing,’ but then everyone said, ‘We don’t care what you think,'” McCarthy said.

Ghostbusters opens July 15. Listen to the clip below.
