Caleb and Camille Fang are performance artists first and parents a distant second—giddy agents of everyday anarchy whose “improvised public events” famously incorporate their two young children. Adulthood frees Annie (Nicole Kidman) and Baxter (Jason Bateman) from the family act, if not its emotional fallout; as grown-ups, they’re a mess. Based on the best-selling 2011 novel, Fang is directed by Bateman with a sensitivity that the story’s sour whimsy doesn’t quite deserve. B
