Prince: Maya Rudolph cover band Princess performs tribute to music legend
Saturday night’s concert from Princess, Maya Rudolph and Gretchen Lieberum’s Prince cover band, was in the works for months as part of the fifth annual Moontower Comedy and Oddity Festival in Austin, Texas. But the ladies planned something extra special to commemorate the Purple Man following his death Thursday at the age of 57.
“Ladies and gentlmen, we are to here tonight to celebrate and honor the beautiful, the genuinely, unique, one-of-a-kind, the most brilliant, most special, most magical, most f—ing incredible Prince Rogers Nelson,” the SNL vet said on stage at the Paramount Theatre. “It’s gonna be hard. We’ll probably cry. He was our hero. We love him, and he’s completely shaped our world.”
