Keith Richards remembers Prince: 'A true original'
Poignant tributes continue to pour in as the world comes to grips with Prince’s untimely death on April 21. Following suit with bandmate Mick Jagger, Keith Richards has joined the lengthy list of celebrities who have paid their respects to the late funk legend.
“A unique talent. A true original. So sad, so sudden and, I will add, a great guitar player,” the rock juggernaut wrote on Twitter Friday. “We are all going to miss him.”
We’re glad Richards had a change of heart — he famously called Prince “an overrated midget” in his 2010 memoir. His praise of Prince’s musicianship is particularly meaningful given that Richards himself has long been hailed as one of music’s greatest guitarists. He’s lent his prowess to some of The Rolling Stones’ biggest hits, including “Paint It Black” and “Gimme Shelter.”
