Daddy's Home

They say you can never go home again, but that won’t be the case for daddy. A sequel to Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg’s Daddy’s Home is in the works, Paramount Pictures and Gary Sanchez Productions announced Friday.

Director Sean Anders is returning to lead the sequel.

Daddy’s Home, released in December 2015, pits Ferrell and Wahlberg against each other as competing fathers. Ferrell plays Brad, a kindly radio host trying to win the affections of his two stepchildren. His masculinity is challenged when the “cool” biological father of the children, Dusty (Wahlberg), returns to town equipped with nice abs and a motorcycle.

The film made about $240 million worldwide.

Paramount has not confirmed the return of the rest of the original cast, which included Linda Cardellini, Thomas Haden Church, and Hannibal Buress. John Morris will return to write the sequel with Anders.

Deadline first reported the news.
