Chicago Saved by the Bell-themed restaurant opening in June

Finally, a place where you can get the bad taste of The College Years out of your mouth with a series of meals — like A.C. Sliders — inspired by Saved by the Bell.

Though former castmember Tiffiani Thiessen dashed hopes for a Saved by the Bell reboot earlier this year, Saved by the Max, the pop-up diner previously announced in February, will officially open in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood on June 1. Comedian and magician Ed Alonzo, who had a recurring role on the NBC comedy, shared the news in a video posted Tuesday to the restaurant’s YouTube channel. The eatery will be modeled after the popular Bayside High hangout, The Max, which frequently appeared on Saved by the Bell throughout its five-season run from 1989-1993.

“We needed a place that would allow fans to feel as if they’ve been transported back to Bayside and are fully immersed in the universe of the show. The final look of the space is going to be a dream come true and deliver the grand slam nostalgic experience everyone has been waiting for,” Derek Berry, who is the mastermind behind the restaurant, told CBS Chicago.

Saved by the Max will be located at 1941 W. North Avenue in Chicago, and will remain open for one month. Reservation tickets are available beginning April 22.
