Fifteen years ago Saturday, The Weakest Link aired its first episode in the U.S. Arriving stateside after making its debut in the U.K. the year prior, the game show premiered on NBC on April 16, 2001.

Starring British journalist Anne Robinson as the host, The Weakest Link pitted its contestants against one another, famously identifying the lowest-performing player as the number of competitors dwindled. Robinson hosted the show for years and continues her endearing legacy thanks to her straight-faced recitation of “You are the weakest link, goodbye.”
