The Late Show With Stephen Colbert gets a new showrunner
CBS This Morning executive producer Chris Licht is heading to another CBS show, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert: Licht will be the series’ new executive producer and showrunner, CBS announced Wednesday.
“I’m thrilled Chris is joining us at The Late Show,” host Stephen Colbert said in a statement. “I am so impressed by what he has done at CBS This Morning. And I trust someone has told him he doesn’t have to get up at 4 a.m. anymore.”
The feeling is mutual: “You can’t work in this business without being in awe of Stephen Colbert and his talents,” Licht, who joined CBS News in 2011, said in a statement. “The chance to work with Stephen and help build a valuable late night franchise, while continuing to grow at CBS, is truly an honor. I can’t wait to get started.”
Licht will also become the Executive Vice President of Special Programming at CBS, and Ryan Kadro is succeeding Licht as executive producer of CBS This Morning.
See The Late Show when it airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS.
