A spoonful of sweetness helps the naughtiness go down in the first trailer for the Vimeo comedy special Garfunkel and Oates: Trying to Be Special, which debuts exclusively on EW.

The one-minute video glimpses some of the misadventures of the comedy-folk duo known as Garfunkel and Oates — a.k.a. Riki Lindhome (Gilmore Girls, Another Period) and Kate Micucci (Scrubs, Raising Hope) — as they put together a live fundraiser in Seattle in hopes of making enough money to produce their own special.

At once angelic-voiced and foul-mouthed, the two sing, “We’re making a special, of songs and also comedy. We’re making a special, of d‑‑‑ jokes and whimsy.”

Elsewhere in the trailer, they tangle with a macho comedian, do some light choreography, and engage in an F-bomb-filled pre-show ritual.

Written by Lindhome and Micucci and directed by Lindhome and Jeremy Konner, Garfunkel and Oates: Trying to be Special premieres May 5 on Vimeo. Watch the trailer above.
