Adult Swim wants more Metalocalypse, and it’s demanding that fans ask them to ask for it.
Let’s clear that up.
The animated adventures of the titular metal band lasted four seasons plus a 2013 hour-long special on the network. Co-creator Brandon Small launched petition last October to resuscitate the show for another hour-long event to conclude the series, asking Adult Swim and Hulu to co-finance the show.
Adult Swim is willing to add its name to the petition if fans make enough noise. “Adult Swim is willing to add its signature to the Change.org petition to bring back Metalocalypse*,” the site reads. “If we receive at least twenty-five (25) signatures, we, Adult Swim, will add our name to the list demanding that we, Adult Swim, take action.”
The asterisk takes readers to this footnote: “Adult Swim’s endorsement of said petition — in no way whatsoever — will bring back Metalocalypse.”

Nevertheless, folks are filling out petitions and faxing them into the network. How is this known? Adult Swim is live-streaming video of a fax machine receiving notes and depositing petitions into a bin.
When asked for comment about Metalocalypse‘s future, an Adult Swim spokesperson told EW, “The status of the series has not changed.”
