Degrassi: Next Class renewed for season 2

Class is back in session on July 22.

Netflix announced Monday that a second season of Degrassi: Next Class has been ordered for the summer.

Technically, this will mark season 16 of the Canadian teen soap; the series ended its 14-year run on TeenNick last year, only to quickly secure a deal at Netflix and Canada’s Family Channel for a revival that includes several new cast members.

Though the Netflix iteration retains the spirit of the original, the cast realized it was “Netflix time” following a storyline about female masturbation that appeared in the first season, which debuted Jan. 15.
