'Captain America: Civil War' clip shows new Avengers in action
The new Avengers are hard at work keeping the world safe from an old foe.
In this clip from Captain America: Civil War, which was featured Sunday during the MTV Movie Awards, Chris Evans and his new team find themselves in a deadly street battle with soldiers in league with Frank Grillo’s Crossbones, an ex-S.H.I.E.L.D. operative who was secretly a HYDRA agent — and was last seen getting a building dropped on his face in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Bruce Banner is AWOL because he’s tired of Hulking out and doing more damage than good. Thor is back in Asgard trying save his celestial kingdom from a hellish vision, and Iron Man has semi-retired from active duty (again), but is still funding the team.
So the Avengers now consist of Cap, Scarlet Johansson’s Black Widow, Anthony Mackie’s Falcon, and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch (with Paul Bettany’s Vision always hovering nearby). This scene finds them in Lagos, tracking a group of terrorists Crossbones is leading in a raid on a center for infectious disease.

Whatever he’s after could become a terrifying bio-weapon that wipes out a lot of people. But this battle in the center of town could do the same. It’s hard for the world to keep seeing you as the good-guys with so much dust, debris, and fire.
This scene helps set up the intial conflict — Governments of the World vs. Rogue Superheroes — when Civil War hits theaters May 6.
