Dr. Ken‘s Ken Jeong knows how to woo the ladies. Well, at least Jimmy Fallon. The comedian performed a passionate rendition of Lionel Richie’s “Three Times a Lady” for the Tonight Show host, and it turns out there’s a special story behind it.
Jeong recalled to Fallon a time in high school when he participated in a mock male beauty pageant called Mr. Buccaneer. “I was a nerd, but I was a well-liked nerd,” he said. “I was kind of a pundgier kid growing up in high school, we did a swim-suit competition like any beauty pageant, [I] had like, a Speedo.”
Then came the talent portion. “I actually sang a song. I’d never sang in public before, and it was — no joke — it was the Commodores, Lionel Richie, ‘Three Times a Lady,'” he continued. He later added that he got a standing ovation and brought some girls in the audience to tears.
