Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone are keeping it in the family. The frequent collaborators, who are also wife and husband, are teaming up once again for the big-screen comedy Life of the Party.
EW can confirm that New Line has acquired the duo’s script, with Falcone on board to direct and McCarthy to star. The pair will produce as well.
Plot details are being kept quiet, but the project has been described as a broad comedy à la Rodney Dangerfield’s Back to School. Shooting could start this summer.
Word of Life of the Party comes just as Falcone and McCarthy’s latest film, the Universal Pictures comedy The Boss, arrives in theaters to try to dethrone Batman v Superman at the box office. Falcone and McCarthy previously partnered with New Line on the 2014 film Tammy, which was poorly reviewed but cracked the $100 million mark worldwide.
