Demi Lovato has been an ardent Hillary Clinton supporter throughout the primary campaign, and on Monday Lovato posted a letter she received from the Democratic candidate after the GLAAD Media Awards.
“Just before the #glaadawards Saturday I got this amazing and thoughtful message from an equally amazing woman, @HillaryClinton,” Lovato captioned the note. “I’m so humbled that she has my back as I have hers… #ImWithHer”
The letter, sent on Hillary Rodham Clinton stationary, is dated April 2 and congratulates Lovato on receiving the Vanguard Award at this year’s ceremony. “On behalf of open-hearted and open-minded Americans everywhere, I cannot thank you enough for using your celebrity to amplify the voices and stories of the LGBT community. Through you music, you continue to empower young Americans to be themselves, to love themselves, and to believe in the power of kindness.”
Lovato accepted the award on Saturday night and performed her new single “Stone Cold” for the crowd. “I always knew that if I made it as a singer that I would need to use my voice for so much more than just singing,” she said during her acceptance speech. “This award means so much to me, more than any music award because this is the real stuff.”
