Only days after announcing the duet, Nick Jonas and Kelsea Ballerini took to the Academy of Country Music Awards Sunday night to perform “Peter Pan.”

Before taking the stage Jonas tweeted, “Backstage at the #ACMs before the performance with @KelseaBallerini and I have to say… Everyone is so nice in country music.”

The preceding weeks marked big news for both musicians. Jonas revealed details of his forthcoming album, Last Year Was Complicated and debuted a steamy new music video for the Tove Lo-assisted “Close.” Ballerini also premiered a video of her own for “Peter Pan,” a cinematic, action-packed cut fit for the ballad’s big-tent feel.

While Ballerini has carved a budding country career since her 2015 debut, The First Time, pop star Jonas is relatively new to the genre. He first graced the ACM stage last year with Nashville duo Dan + Shay.

“I thought I was going to marry [Nick Jonas] when I was 13-years-old,” Ballerini told The Tennessean of the duet. “So, it’s very casual that I’m on stage with him.”

Ballerini was nominated for two awards at this year’s show, winning New Female Artist of the Year ahead of the live event.
