Remember how Aaron Carter used to make music? In recent months, the former child star has been making headlines for his political endorsements and his undying love for Hilary Duff, but he hasn’t released new music since 2002. That all changed Friday when the singer debuted his new song and video for “Fool’s Gold.”

In the song, Carter rebukes the advances of a former lover who left him for another man. Carter sings the chorus in falsetto over a synth-heavy groove. The music video features the singer covered in black and gold body paint, and playing his keyboard arm tattoo as if it were a real keyboard.

“Fool’s Gold” is the lead single from Carter’s upcoming album, LøVë, which is due out later this year. Watch the music video below.
