When Star Wars: The Force Awakens finally hit theaters after years of anticipation, fans both praised and condemned the fact that the new film was so similar to the original trilogy. While some of the similarities were pretty obvious — a young, Force-sensitive person leaves her desert home to face off against a villain in a black mask and blow up a planet-sized super weapon — others are a little more subtle. Now, filmmaker Jorge Luengo Ruiz has cut together a side-by-side comparison exploring exactly how J.J. Abrams paid tribute to the original Star Wars.

Previously, Ruiz created a similar video about how Pixar honors classic films like Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Shining, and Rear Window, and his new Star Wars video does the same thing. The video includes some of the more obvious callbacks, like major plot points and dialogue, but there are also a lot of little visual cues and similarities — like how Luke dramatically removes his hood almost exactly the same way Obi-Wan did all those years ago.

Watch Ruiz’s video above to see all the parallels between The Force Awakens and the original trilogy, including a few you might have missed.
