Smashing Pumpkins, James Iha reunion concert
Saturday’s Smashing Pumpkins concert in Los Angeles included a reunion 16 years in the making.
Founding guitarist James Iha joined his former bandmates Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin onstage Saturday for the first time since the band first broke up in 2000. While various other musicians have performed with Corgan over the years — including drummer Chamberlin, who is currently touring with Corgan — Saturday’s show at the Ace Hotel marked the first reunion with Iha.

The trio performed tracks off their 1993 album Siamese Dream, including “Today,” “Mayonaise,” and “Soma.” The Pumpkins also celebrated Iha’s birthday on stage, cake and all, as Corgan led the crowd in a rendition of “Happy Birthday.”
