DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will end its freshman run with a bang.
A new trailer released at WonderCon reveals many jaw-dropping moments, from the introduction of Jonah Hex (Jonathan Schaech) and a young Talia Al Ghul to a potentially giant A.T.O.M. and the arrival of Firefly alum Jewel Staite, who will play someone who has “ties to Ray,” EP Marc Guggenheim teased.
Also, when an assassin is sent back to kill younger versions of the Legends, we get a glimpse of Arrow’s Detective Lance (Paul Blackthorne) and a younger Sara Lance (Caity Lotz). Potentially related, Ray (Brandon Routh) crosses paths with Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) while she’s still in the wheelchair.

As for some of the other Legends, “Kendra (Ciara Renee) is going to start remembering her past lives with Carter [Falk Hentschel]. So in many ways, Ray is going to be competing with [a dead guy],” Guggenheim said. Though Ray and Kendra will have plenty of time to grow closer since they’ll have been left behind for two years when the show returns.
Speaking of those left behind, once Sara also rejoins the team, she’ll get to do something she’s never done before in episode 15. “Sara might sit in a certain captain’s chair at some point and may possibly be flying a time ship, so Rip Hunter better watch out because Captain Canary is coming in,” Lotz said with a laugh.
While Guggenheim played coy on what the second season would entail — the show was recently renewed for a second season — the EP promised a definitive end to the story from season 1. “You’ll get an answer to whether or the team succeeds in its mission to stop Vandal Savage, you’ll get a resolution to the Ray-Carter-Kendra love triangle, and you’ll get to know more of what the Time Masters are up to,” he said, noting that those two empty seats in the Waverider could mean new faces coming next year.
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
