Jimmy Fallon paid tribute to the Garry Shandling on The Tonight Show after the comedian died unexpectedly on Thursday at the age of 66.

“He’s one of the greatest stand-up comedians ever,” Fallon said. “If you’re thinking about getting into stand-up comedy or if you just like watching it, you can’t go through it without seeing Garry Shandling and studying this guy.”

The host showed his audience a clip from Shandling’s first appearance on The Tonight Show back during Johnny Carson’s reign, before singing the theme song to the sitcom It’s Garry Shandling’s Show with The Roots. Watch Fallon’s tribute below.
